Preparing a group build
Multiple parts can be placed in a single build if they are carefully arranged and checked for collision.
Arranging parts in a build
It is important to take care of following points when creating a group build.
- While trying to print group of parts please make sure that each part is imported as a separate stl, this will make the group build more flexible and the parts can be moved freely within the build if needed. Please do not import multiple parts as a single stl.
- Multiple parts must be placed with enough space between them so as to avoid collision.
- When placing parts over one another make sure that the part at the top has a similar part underneath it, so that the bottom part acts as a base to the top part.
- Also make sure that the parts with overhangs, spindly geometries or fragile parts are close to the base and not lying in air.
- Small and tiny parts can easily be lost in the powder so if you are getting multiple amounts of very small parts printed, please try arranging them as pattern on a base with some clearance.
- Figure below is a good example of the above point in which small blocks are arranged as a pattern on a base with some clearance.
Collision Detection
- Once the group build is ready it should always be checked for any collisions between the parts. Collision detection can be performed by going to the main menu (Main menu>view>collision detection).
- A collision detection test also gives the layer at which a collision is expected while printing.
- If the software detects a collision rearrange the parts so that the collision can be avoided.
