Artist Profile

~  ~

Having been born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, a city, not necessarily known for having the most prominent art scene, but having a decent one nonetheless, I have always found myself drawn towards that scene, towards the art. Even at a young age, in middle school, I received awards for my art and then continued with my interest in the subject in high school. However, in high school, I found that I know longer saw art as just a subject, but rather a hobby of mine and then towards my Junior year it became more of a passion. It was in also in my junior year I discovered, that, out of all mediums of art, it was photography that I was the most passionate about. It was from that point on that I decided to pursue art and most importantly, photography, in college.

After graduating high school I went on to Bowling Green State University to major in Visual Communications Technology (VCT). The VCT program was one that not only included studying photography, but also graphic design, web design, video, and print, which at the time sounded like a good path for me to follow. However, while I found the VCT program at Bowling Green to be very interesting, especially the photography class I took, it wasn't exactly what I wanted to be studying. The program focused more on the problem solving and technical side of creating and communicating art, more so than I would have liked. So, after studying for a year at Bowling Green I decided to transfer back home to the University of Cincinnati's Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning program (D.A.A.P.), to major in fine arts.

For almost a year now I have been in the D.A.A.P. program at UC, and for the most part I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have studied just about every medium of art as well as some Art History classes and in doing so, I believe that I have finally found exactly what it is that I want to focus on. Of course, I am still pursuing my passion for photography, but I am also switching my major in the D.A.A.P. program to Art History, with a concentration in Fine Arts. After taking the various fine arts classes that I was required to take, I found myself wanting to take more of the art history classes rather than the drawing, painting, and digital foundations classes. I have always had an interest in history, I just never realized until this year that mixing both history and art together would create a subject that I found truly fascinating and would find myself yearning to learn more of, just as I yearn still, for photography.
